Ottawa Senators vs. Boston Bruins - 12/28/13

Boston Bruins (25-10-2) at Ottawa Senators (15-17-7)

NHL Hockey: Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 7:00 pm (Canadian Tire Centre)

The Line: Ottawa Senators +114 / Boston Bruins -126 --- Over/Under: 5 See the Latest Odds

The Bruins and Senators complete a home and home double header in Ottawa on Saturday after the Bruins took the first leg in convincing fashion.

The Senators got off to a rocky start to the second half of their NHL regular season and as has been the case for the better part of this season the Senators dropped a lopsided decision. The Sens went on the road to Boston to face off against one of the game’s best and left with a sour taste of defeat as the B’s handed Ottawa a 5-0 shellacking on Friday night. Ottawa has been very inconsistent this season and are a team that will likely fall short of their playoff aspirations which considering their roster isn’t too far of a stretch. Ottawa has overachieved each of the last two seasons which skyrocketed expectations this year but they have fallen well short of that mark and while they can still turn things around I doubt it’ll be enough to crack the Eastern Conference playoffs. Craig Anderson gets the call for Ottawa as he goes up against Boston rookie Niklas Svedberg who is making his NHL debut.

Ottawa Senators vs. Boston Bruins - 12/28/13

The Bruins were business as usual yesterday as the perennial Eastern Conference powers continue to prove they are worthy of Stanley Cup discussions as they currently hold claim to second place in the East. Boston was heartbroken last year as they lost in game six at home in the Cup finals to the Blackhawks but they haven’t skipped a beat this year and they should very much be in the running come playoff time again this year. The Bruins manhandled the Senators yesterday and while the Sens may be shooting at an inexperienced goalie in this one I don’t see them finding much success as the B’s have the second best defensive unit in the game only trailing the LA Kings. While the Sens have played well against good teams at home I just don’t see this being a good spot for them as Boston clearly showed yesterday they were the better team and I don’t think a day and venue change will make a difference.
