The Flyers play out their Western Canada road trip in Calgary on Tuesday night after playing in Vancouver against the Canucks last night.
The Flyers have started to right the ship after a lackluster start to the season had the Philly faithful calling for heads and if they can stay on pace they should qualify for the Eastern Conference playoffs. Philadelphia sits in third place in the Metropolitan division and with the competition level being what it is aside from the Penguins who have run away with it the Flyers could very well finish second in the division and earn themselves sa more favourable playoff spot. Steve Mason has emerged as the team’s number one and after seeing Ray Emery last night we are likely to see Mason get the start here against Reto Berra. Despite their underachievements over the last couple of years I think the Flyers could be a dangerous team come playoff time but in order to get there they’ll have to keep their elevated play afloat and beat some of the game’s better teams.

Calgary is a team in rebuild mode but despite their underwhelming roster the Flames have actually played quite well this season which could actually prove as a detriment based on the strength of the upcoming draft class. The Flames have found much success from their youngsters namely rookie sensation Sean Monahan who is clearly the cornerstone of the team’s future but they’ll need a couple more pieces before they can get back to relevance. The Flames do catch the Flyers in a back to back here after they played the Canucks last night and as a slight home dog I think they are definitely worth a look. However, getting the better team at almost even money is too good to pass up and I think the Flyers have the edge here.
