The Sabres and Jets meet up in Winnipeg as both teams look to rectify disappointing starts to the season at the MTS Center.
The Sabres have been one of the biggest disappointments over the last two seasons and after spending a ton of money on free agents last year that resulted in more losses than wins and missing the postseason ownership cleaned house. Buffalo has already shipped out Thomas Vanek and will likely lose goaltender Ryan Miller at the end of the season if not before and if this has been an audition to prove his worth than Miller has done a great job. Buffalo heads into Winnipeg looking for just their 12th win of the season and to put that into perspective the Ducks just had their 10 game winning streak snapped which goes to show how bad the Sabres have been this season. Miller gets the night off as Jhonas Enroth gets the call and he will go up against Al Montoya who was brilliant in his last start against Colorado.

The Jets have been just as frustrating as the Sabres this year as they have a roster that should be competitive and challenge for the playoffs yet they have been ridiculously inconsistent. Winnipeg has yet to make the playoffs in their two seasons back in Manitoba and were futile in their last couple of years in Atlanta so you can bet that the fan base will be itching for a postseason berth and while they haven’t shown they can compete with the game’s best they surely have what it takes to make some noise. I have said before that Al Montoya should be the team’s starter and we saw it against the Avs and he is likely to be rewarded with another start here. I like the Jets at home against an underwhelming Sabres team starting their backup goaltender.
