The Tampa Bay Lightning and the Vancouver Canucks meet in NHL action from the Rogers Arena on Sunday night.

The Tampa Bay Lightning come into this game on a three-game losing streak after a 4-1 loss to the Oilers last time out. Steven Stamkos leads the Lightning in scoring with 63 points including a team-high 27 goals along with 36 assists while Victor Hedman also has 57 points with a team-high 43 assists as well this season. Alex Killorn has 47 points with 18 goals and 29 assists for the Bolts this season. Andrei Vaslievskiy has seen the bulk of the workload between the pipes for Tampa Bay this season, posting a record of 30-11-4 with a 2.43 GAA and a .917 save percentage on the year.

The Vancouver Canucks will look to bounce back after a 4-3 OT loss to the Washington Capitals last time out. J.T. Miller leads the Canucks in scoring with 69 points including a team-high 23 goals and 46 assists while Quinn Hughes has 48 points with 43 assists. Conor Garland also has 14 goals this season with a total of 31 points and Tyler Myers has a team-best +12 plus/minus. Bo Horvat’s also added 37 points with 20 goals of his own and Elias Pettersson has 42 points with 18 goals and 24 assists for Vancouver this year. Thatcher Demko’s seen the majority of action between the pipes for the Canucks, going 26-16-3 with a 2.67 GAA and a .916 save percentage this season.

Tampa Bay is 6-1 in their last 7 games played on no rest and 39-16 in their last 55 games as a favorite while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games against a team with a losing record. Vancouver is 6-2 in their last 8 games overall and 5-1 in their last 6 games as an underdog while the over is 14-3 in their last 17 games overall.

I get the reasoning for backing either side here, as the Lightning are obviously the two-time defending champions while the Canucks have been on the rise more often than not since their coaching change earlier this season. Instead, I’m going to side with the over. Both teams can score and if you’re a trends person, Vancouver’s hit the over in ten straight games and I look for them to make it 11 in this one.
