The Line: Philadelphia Flyers -116 / Montreal Canadiens +105 --- Over/Under: 5 See the Latest Odds

The Philadelphia Flyers look for their second win in as many nights as they return home on Wednesday night for a date with the Montreal Canadiens.

The Canadiens look to keep pace in the Atlantic division on Wednesday night as they head into Philadelphia to take on a Flyers team making head way in the Eastern Conference standings. Montreal has been a consistent team all season as they haven’t had too many losing skids and have ripped off some pretty impressive winning streaks and they’ll aim for their second straight and sixth in their last 10 tonight. Montreal is a team built for the playoffs but after last year’s collapse in the first round against the Senators I think it is clear that they need to obtain a few pieces at the trade deadline if they’re going to make a deep run. Carey Price is without question one of the best goaltenders in the world and fresh off his anointment as one of the Canadian Olympic goaltenders he will certainly be playing with a ton of confidence. However, Price will be a spectator for this one as Petr Budaj gets the call as the Slovakian national who will also be in Sochi gets his 10th start of the year.

Philadelphia Flyers vs. Montreal Canadiens - 1/8/14

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia had a tough start to the year as they continue to move past the Ilya Bryzgalov era that will continue to haunt them against the salary cap for the next handful of seasons but now they are starting to make a move in the Eastern Conference standings. The Flyers have won eight of their last 10 games and have skyrocketed into second place in the Metropolitan division and while they’re still light years behind the Penguins for the division lead they are certainly back in the playoff picture. Steve Mason has asserted himself as the staring net minder and while he gave way to Ray Emery last night who notched the victory against the Devils it will be the former Calder Trophy winner getting the call here tonight. This is a game I really love as both teams are itching for a victory and while I like the side as a premium play here I think the free play is on the over. Both teams have players who can score and with Carey Price on the bench and the Flyers playing in a back to back I think we see a ton of action and I think it goes over the number.
