The Dallas Stars will look to avoid its fourth straight home loss as the Edmonton Oilers visit American Airlines Center on Tuesday.
The Edmonton Oilers began the current four game road trip with a 5-3 loss on Sunday to the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center. The Oilers got out to an early lead in the first, but the rest of the game was all Chicago. The Hawks peppered Devan Dubnyk with 41 shots on goal. Despite giving one of the league’s best power play teams five opportunities to score with the man advantage, the Oilers surrendered just one goal while being down a man. Taylor Hall, who found the back of the net for Edmonton, continues to produce offensively and now has a team leading 43 points on the season.

The Dallas Stars are also looking to bounce back from a loss. The Stars fell to the New York Islanders 4-2 at home on Sunday, which marks a season high six game losing streak for Dallas. Oddly enough, each of the six losses has come to an Eastern Conference opponent. During the current losing streak the Stars have averaged only two goals per game while allowing 4.3 goals per game. The offensive drought has come in large part because the teams leading scorer, Tyler Seguin, has gone cold of late. Seguin, who has 41 points this season, has gone 5 games without recording a single point.
This will be the third meeting of the season for these two Western Conference teams, with the first two games resulting in an even 1-1 split. The road team is 0-7 in the last seven games between these two teams, which includes the previous two meetings this season. I really think that the Dallas Stars coach, Lindy Ruff, and captain, Jamie Benn, will have the Stars motivated in this spot. At this time, the Stars are seven points behind the Minnesota Wild for the last playoff spot in the West, so Dallas does not have the luxury of time if Ruff’s squad wants to make the postseason. Dallas will feel the pressure in this spot and come out firing, so I will take a shot on the puck line.
