The Kings look to keep their winning ways intact as they continue their road trip in Detroit on Saturday at the Joe.
Los Angeles is just two seasons removed from hoisting their first Stanley Cup and while their season ended prematurely last year I think they are right on track to make a deep push again this season. The Kings are flying under the radar this season thanks to some special seasons from Chicago, Anaheim, and St. Louis but perhaps out of all of those teams the Kings have the team best built for a playoff run and a shot at the Stanley Cup. Los Angeles is only bound to get better form here as well as they have Jonathan Quick back between the pipes and while Ben Scrivens and Martin Jones did a great job while Quick was out they are certainly a better team with him between the pipes. The Kings head into Detroit looking for their third straight win after upending the Blues in St. Louis in their last outing and catch the Red Wings in the midst of a two game streak going the other way.

The Red Wings were pegged to be the team to beat in the Eastern Conference this season as they were coming over from a much more competitive Western Conference and acquired both Daniel Alfredsson and Stephen Weiss in the offseason. However, the Wings have stumbled so far this season and after dropping back to back games they have slipped down to sixth place in the Atlantic and are on the outside looking in when it comes to the Eastern Conference playoff picture. To add injury to insult the Wings are without Pavel Datsyuk indefinitely as he is hampered with injury which is not good moving forward as he is their best offensive playmaker and is a great two way forward that gets them out of a lot of jams. Detroit to me is a team that could make some noise if they got to the playoffs but at the rate they’re going I think they’ll be hard pressed to get in and with the Kings playing great hockey this one is a no brainer.
