The Carolina Hurricanes have been playing their best hockey as of late, winning six of their last nine games and slightly improving above a 500-record. The Philadelphia Flyers have cooled off just a little bit, losing four of their last six, including a 4-3 shootout on Monday to the New York Islanders.
Something must give when the two teams meet Tuesday night in the Wells Fargo Center.

Although we can all agree Philadelphia is the better team, Carolina has surpassingly won the first two meetings this season. But before those two games, Philadelphia has won the last four against the Hurricanes. It’s also important to note that the first two matchups were in Carolina, while this one and the last meeting in April will be played in Philly.
That’s huge if you’re considering picking in side in this Metropolitan Division matchup.
The Flyers are 11-2 in their last 13 home games, while Carolina is just 9-9-4 on the road this season. The home team has also won four of the last five meetings in this division rivalry.
Although Carolina has had a couple days rest and Philadelphia is going to play a back-to-back, you have to like the home team to prevail in this game. It’s a team that plays extremely tough at home and needs a victory to stay within striking distance of the red hot New York Rangers.
Give me the better team at home for the fairly cheap price.
