The Line: New Jersey Devils / New York Rangers --- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds

The National Hockey League has really done a great job with their outdoor games over the years and now for the first time they'll bring the event to Yankee Stadium in the Bronx when the New York Rangers face off against the New Jersey Devils. It will be the first of two games outdoors for the Rangers who will play the New York Islanders on Wednesday night as well. The temperatures in New York are expected to be frigid for these games so it's going to be interesting to see how each of these clubs deals with the extreme cold. The Rangers were playing excellent hockey before their recent two game losing streak and now they're looking to get back on the winning side of things. New York played a pretty sloppy game on Tuesday night against the Islanders but on Thursday night it was their special teams that let them down against the St. Louis Blues. The Rangers played a strong game against a formidable opponent but they weren't able to convert on their power play and then watched as the Blues scored with a man advantage late in the third period to take a decisive 2-1 lead. New York's power play has been effective all year long but it let them down against the Blues and it's something they're going to need to take advantage of against the Devils. New Jersey has been getting better and better as well but they're still not scoring a lot of goals so special teams is going to be the big difference between these two teams. The Devils have won two straight heading into Sunday afternoon's affair and they've also won all three meetings with the Rangers this season. New Jersey has had the Rangers number this season and they're hoping their luck continues in this one. Friday night the Devils hosted the Washington Capitals and they played their typical game this season, holding Washington to a single goal in a 2-1 victory. We're going to see two very different styles of hockey in this one and it's going to come down to who can adjust to the elements and the ice surface and play their game most effectively. The Devils want to clog things up on New York and frustrate them while converting turnovers the other way. New York wants to break out of their own zone quickly and transition with speed into New Jersey's zone. The Devils have done a much better job of dictating style between these two teams this year and with these teams needing to adjust to their surroundings this one might a low scoring affair between these two rivals.
