TV:

The Wild looks to build on their victory over the Ducks on Tuesday as they travel to Mile High to take on the Colorado Avalanche.

Minnesota is coming off their biggest victory of the season as they went into Anaheim and did what only one other team has done and that’s beat the Ducks at the Honda Centre in regulation. The Wild will look to extend their winning streak to two and look for their seventh win in 10 games in this one but face a division rival in Colorado who is leading Minnesota by five points in the Central. Minnesota has found much of their success this season in the form of solid goaltending but since Josh Harding has bene sidelined due to health concerns with MS the stability has been wavering between Nik Backstrom and Darcy Kuemper. However, the latter has taken the reins and has actually played quite well of late and will get the call here against Semyon Varlamov who looks to give his Avs another home ice victory and pad their lead over the Wild in the division.

Colorado Avalanche vs. Minnesota Wild - 1/30/14

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sport

Colorado is a team that has flown under the radar a bit this season despite their red hot start thanks in large part to the success of the Hawks, Ducks, and Blues but they are a feisty team that certainly has the makeup of going on a deep playoff run. The Avs have made a huge jump from last season and at this point look like a shoe in for the postseason and with a victory tonight they can push closer to that goal as they currently hold on to the third seed in the Central division and an automatic berth in the playoffs. Colorado is a very quick team with a ton of talent up front but they need some help on the back end and it looks as though they’re trying to get that by dealing forward PA Parenteau who has been held out of back to back games with the underlying indication that he will be dealt. If the AVs can get another poece on the blue line they will be very dangerous and in this spot I think they send a message to Minnesota and the rest of the Central division. Great angle here for the Avs.
