The Dallas Stars head out west to take the ice with the Anaheim Ducks in Saturday night NHL action.
Dallas ended a five game homestand with a 3-2 overtime loss to New Jersey to finish 3-1-1 in this stretch. The power play bit the home team with Patrik Elias scoring 40 ticks in to the extra session while Travis Zajac also scored with the man advantage. Jamie Benn lit the lamp for the Stars but also was the goat with the tripping penalty on Elias that gave the Devils the PP in OT. Tyler Seguin scored with under a minute in regulation to tie it at 2-2 but Dallas only put 16 shots on Devils netminder Corey Schneider while Kari Lehtonen recorded 21 stops to absorb the loss. The Stars did not fare well on the power play, going 0-3 including a 5 on 3 opportunity.

The struggling Philadelphia Flyers were in the wrong place at the wrong time in Thursday's 5-3 loss at the Honda Center to saddle them with defeats in five of six. Anaheim was in a bad mood after absorbing their second regulation home loss of the season by a 4-2 count to Minnesota on Tuesday. The Ducks balanced attack saw goals from Daniel Winnik, Saku Koivu, Ryan Getzlaf, Patrick Maroon and Corey Perry with Frederik Andersen recording 27 stops to pick up the win. Vincent Lecavalier, Matt Read and Michael Raffl did the damage for Philadelphia with Steve Mason getting the loss with a 23 save performance.
Anaheim is one of the elite squads in the Western Conference and people tend to blindly back them regardless. That might be a little dangerous with the Stars playing well but I'm still backing the Ducks in a regulation play...
