The Montreal Canadians and Winnipeg Jets will meet Sunday afternoon in the Bell Centre, which will be one of the two hockey matchups before the Super Bowl. It’s the second and final regular season meeting between the two teams, as the Canadians won the pervious back in October.

Montreal will be playing a back-to-back after losing Saturday in overtime to the Tampa Bay Lightning. It’s now lost five of its last seven games and a lot of it is due to poor offensive execution. In the Canadians five losses they’ve scored a combined six goals. Goaltenders Carey Price and Peter Budaj continue to do a solid job but the 24th worst offense in the NHL continues to let them down by not putting enough pucks in the net.

On the other side Winnipeg has been playing great hockey as of late, winning six of its last eight games. It’s actually having no problem scoring goals, as it has scored at least three goals in each of its last seven victories. The goaltending from Ondrej Pavelec could be a little more consistent, but it is certainly hard to complain with the way the Jets have been playing the last couple of weeks. Right wing Devin Setoguchi scored two of his season’s 10 goals in Friday’s game against Vancouver.

As for the game, it’s hard to go against Montreal at home. Sure, Winnipeg is probably playing the better hockey at the moment, but it hasn’t beaten the Canadians since December of 2012. Montreal has won the last six meetings. It’s also a decent 15-9-1-2 at home, while Winnipeg is only 12-14-1-0 on the road.

The Canadians are also 4-1 in their last five games against the Central.

Take the home team and the small chalk.
