The Anaheim Ducks are finally dealing with some adversity this season as they’ve lost two of their first three games on their current homestand. They hope to turn that around Monday night with the Columbus Blue Jackets coming to town. These two teams played each other back in October and the Ducks won 4-3.
Not only is Anaheim going through a bit of a slump that includes recent losses to Minnesota and Dallas, but it is also dealing with a couple of injuries to key players. Center Nick Bonino has been placed on the IR and defensemen Mark Fistric suffered an injury Saturday and will be questionable for this matchup. The Ducks, who are known as one of the league’s top scoring teams this season, have scored a combined six goals in their last four losses. They’ve also recorded less than 30 shots in six of their last eight games.

The Blue Jackets have won two straight and hope to carry some of that momentum with them on the road. The goaltending has been so-so, but they win majority of their games when they put the puck in the net. In fact, they’ve won their last 10 games when scoring at least three goals. Center Ryan Johansen has found his rhythm as of late, producing three goals and an assist in his last two games.
These two teams usually play one another well, as the last four meetings have been decided by one goal and two of the last three needed overtime. But it’s nearly impossible to pick against the Ducks. They’re 23-3-1-1 at home this season and 9-0 in their last nine games against the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, the Blue Jackets are just 12-12-2-0 on the road.
Give me the home team that is looking to bounce back.
