The Edmonton Oilers head to the First Niagara Center to face the Buffalo Sabres on Monday.
Edmonton traveled to Boston Saturday riding a three game win streak but the good times came to an end with a thud in a 4-0 defeat. Despite the recent up tick the Oilers have generally struggled which their seventh place standing in the Pacific Division says. The scoring and defense that was strong in the wins was nowhere to be found Saturday with Chad Johnson making 22 saves to post his first shutout of the year. Ben Scrivens was tagged for four goals on 41 Bruins shots with Torey Krug, David Krejci, Doug Hamilton and Carl Soderberg lighting the lamp.

One of the last things a struggling Buffalo wanted to see was a trip to red hot Colorado who stayed hot with a 7-1 victory for their eighth win in ten contests. This one had trouble written all over it with the Avalanche taking a 3-0 first period lead and never taking their foot off the gas pedal. Gabriel Landeskog, Jamie McGinn and Nathan MacKinnon each talled twice with Marc-Andre Cliche and Tyson Barrie rounding out the scoring. Semyon Varlomov turned away 22 shots to earn the win while Ryan Miller gave up five goals on 27 chances before Jhonas Enroth relieved and allowed two scores on 12 shots with Matt D'Agostini providing the offense for the Sabres.
I wouldn't be in any rush to bet this one with neither team enjoying a great year. The Sabres at home might be the only edge I see which doesn't make this a great betting oportunity but maybe it's enough to steal a win...
