The Toronto Maple Leafs will play their second straight road game when they pay the Montreal Canadians a visit on Saturday night. This will be the fourth of five scheduled meetings this season, and the Maple Leafs lead the series two games to one.
The Maple Leafs have won five of their last seven games but are coming off a 5-4 overtime loss to the New York Islanders on Thursday. As has been the case for much of the season, their offense has led the way, as they’ve scored a combined 27 goals in their last seven games. However, they haven’t scored a power play goal in four straight games. Goalie Jonathan Bernier has allowed 13 goals in his last five starts. The Maple Leafs are 11-12-3-3 on the road this season.

The Canadians have won four of their last five games, which includes a 6-5 road victory over Pittsburgh in overtime on Thursday. This will be their third game since the break. Mostly known for their defense, the Canadians have actually scored four or more goals in three of their last four games. Crazy enough, the defense has slipped a little bit, as teams have scored at least four goals nine times in their last 20 games. The Canadians are 17-10-3-2 on their home ice this season.
There have been many entertaining games between these two teams in the past and this one should be no different. Both teams are in a rhythm offensively and scoring goals at will, which is why I’m going with the over in this matchup.
Toronto is one of the higher scoring teams in the league and Montreal has been in a groove offensively as of late. Not to mention that six of the last seven meetings between these two teams has gone over the projected total.
Give me six goals at least.
