The Line: Colorado Avalanche +105 / St. Louis Blues -116 --- Over/Under: 5.5 See the Latest Odds

The St. Louis Blues will play their second matchup of a three-game road trip when they visit the Colorado Avalanche. This is the third of four scheduled meetings, and the Blues have won the previous two games.

It looks like the trade for goalie Ryan Miller is really paying off for the Blues, as they’ve won three straight since acquiring him. In those games, he’s allowed just five goals, providing the Blues with more than enough cushion to leave the ice victorious. Offensively, they’ve scored three or more goals in five of their last eight games, which includes three goals from Patrick Berglund in his last two contests. The Blues are 19-9-1-2 on the road this season.

The Avalanche have won four straight games and continue to do so with a heavy dose of offensive firepower. During their winning streak, they’ve scored a combined 17 goals, making it very easy for goalies Semyon Varlamov and Jean-Sebastian Giguere. Speaking of the goalies, the duo has allowed two or less goals in four of their last six starts. However, they have allowed at least one power play goal in six of their last seven games. The Avalanche are 21-8-2-1 on their home ice this season.

This should be a wonderful matchup between two of hockey’s best, and you really can’t go wrong no matter how you want to slice it. However, there is one alarming trend that’s tough to ignore.

The Blues are 23-4 in their last 27 games against the Central. When you add that to the fact Miller has been playing out of his mind and the Blues have won five of the last seven meetings against the Avalanche, including the last three, it’s tough to turn down the price of the road team.

The Avalanche have been playing well and are an impressive 14-3 in their last 17 games off of one days rest, but the Blues appeared to be dialed in.

I’ll take the road team.
