TV:

The Bruins and Canadiens renew hostilities at the Bell Centre on Wednesday night with the road team looking to distance themselves in the Atlantic while the home squad looks to reclaim second place.

The Bruins head into Montreal on Wednesday with a sense of relief and comfort in the Atlantic division race as they hold an 11 point advantage over the Maple Leafs for top spot and with a win here against the Canadiens they can pad that lead and breathe a little easier heading into the final stretch of the regular season. The Bruins hold the second biggest gap over their division rivals trailing only the Penguins who have a commanding 18 point edge over the rest of the Metropolitan division and with the way these two teams have played this season it isn’t a stretch to assume we will see both of them play each other in the Eastern Conference finals. Boston has been red hot since the end of the Olympic break as they have won five games in a row and have ample opportunity to take down the Canadiens here who will continue to start Petr Budaj in the absence of Carey Price.

Montreal Canadiens vs. Boston Bruins - 3/12/14

Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports

Montreal made some moves at the trade deadline as they acquired Thomas Vanek from the Buffalo Sabres and made a bit of a panic move by dealing for former Oilers and Predators net minder Devan Dubnyk who remains with the Hamilton Bulldogs for the time being. It is unclear how long Price will be out of the Montreal lineup so management went out and got a security blanket for Budaj but any Canadiens fan will tell you they are counting down the days until Carey Price can suit up again between the pipes. Montreal is in a battle with the Maple Leafs for second place in the Atlantic division which would give the incumbent a third seed in the Conference and home ice advantage in the first round which in the Eastern Conference would be pivotal to playoff success. These two teams do not get along and the games are always exciting to watch as they play each other very closely but getting the Bruins at even money against anybody is a steal and I think they come to play at the Bell Centre.
