NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Sharks, Jackets, Tonight's TV Schedule and More
March 12, 2014
The NHL schedule will be easing up a bit tonight, but we’ve still got four matchups to look forward to. With that in mind, let’s take our daily look around the league and see which players out there are making headlines this morning. Here’s the latest.
Shea Weber, D, Nashville Predators: Weber had himself a nice outing against the Sabres yesterday. He logged a goal and an assist in the 4-1 victory for his first points of the month and his first goal since Jan. 31. Also helping out was Craig Smith, who had a score and a helper of his own.
The Preds have some momentum heading into the weekend, and they’ll need it. Friday they’ll head to Chicago, then Saturday they’ll host the Blues.

Sergei Bobrovsky, G, Columbus Blue Jackets: The Red Wings are completely depleted by injury right now, so the Blue Jackets didn’t have much trouble with them last night. Bobrovsky led the way with 39 saves on 40 shots in the 4-1 win, with Danny DeKeyser, Boone Jenner, Brandon Dubinsky and Derek MacKenzie providing the offense with a goal each.
Tomorrow, the Jackets will host the Sharks. After that, they’ll finish off the week by heading to Minnesota on Saturday.
Marc-Andre Fleury, G, Pittsburgh Penguins: Not to be outdone, Fleury also had a great game yesterday. He posted all 32 shots that came in his direction against the Capitals, giving him his fifth shutout of the year as the Penguins won easily 2-0. Both Jussi Jokinen and Sidney Crosby recorded a goal.
The Penguins will get a few days off before their busy weekend. They’ll play a home-and-home with the Flyers, starting in Philly Saturday then back home to Pittsburgh Sunday.
Joe Pavelski, C, San Jose Sharks: It was a night of Joes during the Sharks’ game against the Maple Leafs. Pavelski logged a pair of goals and an assist in the 6-2 blowout, while his fellow Joe (Thornton) posted a trio of assists. Pavelski now has 34 goals and 31 helpers on the year, while Thornton has nine scores and 55 assists.
The Sharks will pick things back up again tomorrow when they head to Columbus. On Thursday, they’ll move on over to New York to take on the host Islanders.
NHL Daily Schedule: Just eight teams will be in action tonight, which is slightly fewer than usual recently. Here’s a look at the complete schedule, along with the start times and TV networks carrying each game.
