The Edmonton Oilers and the Detroit Red Wings meet in NHL action from Little Caesars Arena on Wednesday night.

The Edmonton Oilers will be looking to build on a 6-5 OT win over the New York Rangers in their last game. Leon Draisaitl leads the Oilers with 23 points including a team-high 10 goals and 13 assists with an astounding +12 plus/minus rating in just 10 games this season. Connor McDavid has 22 points with a team-high 14 assists and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has 14 assists as well this season. Zach Hyman’s also potted 7 goals for the Oilers this season. Mikko Koskinen has made the majority of starts in goal for Edmonton, going 7-1 with a 2.54 GAA and a .920 save percentage this season.

The Detroit Red Wings will look to build on a 5-2 win over Vegas at home in their last game. Tyler Bertuzzi leads the Red Wings with 15 points including a team-high 9 goals and 6 assists along with a team-best +10 plus/minus while Lucas Raymond has 14 points with 6 goals and 8 assists. Moritz Seider also has a team-high 9 assists while Vladislav Namestnikov has 5 goals this season. Alex Nedeljkovic has gone 2-2-2 on the year with a 3.03 GAA and a .910 save percentage in goal for Detroit while Thomas Greiss has gone 4-3 with a 3.24 GAA and a .906 save percentage this season.

Edmonton is 20-8 in their last 28 road games and 14-4 in their last 18 games as a road favorite while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games against the Atlantic division. Detroit is 37-96 in their last 133 games as an underdog and 9-21 in their last 30 games following a win while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600.

I get the case that could be made either way here and while the over is always a viable play with Connor McDavid on the ice, I’m going to side with the under. Both teams have been playing some solid defense as of late and I just think that Detroit steps up and home and gives the Oilers a battle here. Look for the under to come in when all is said and done.
