The Edmonton Oilers hope to get back in the win column versus the Carolina Hurricanes at PNC Arena.
The Oilers faced a good opportunity to steal a road win at Detroit where the home team had lost four of their last five and it would have been a welcome site with their road swing continuing with a trip to Carolina up next. Edmonton put up a fight but it wasn't meant to be as Detroit skated away with a 2-1 shootout decision on Friday with Thomas Tater's third round tally giving the Wings the victory. Riley Sheahan gave the Detroit a first period lead that held up until the third when Ryan Smythe gave Edmonton new life with his lamp lighter at the 8:43 mark. Viktor Fasth recorded 22 stops in the loss while Jimmy Howard picked up the win with 21 saves.

The Bruins late offensive flurry broke open a close contest that led the way to a 5-1 victory Saturday afternoon. Cam Ward faced 41 shots in absorbing the loss with Alexander Semin's third period talley providing the lone source of offense for the Hurricanes. Jarome Iginla led Boston's scoring explosion with a pair of goals while Torey Krug, Chris Kelly and Milan Lucic also found the back of the net. Tuukka Rask got the day off and the Bruins didn't miss a beat with Chad Johnson recording 29 stops to extend Boston's winning streak to eight straight while the Canes modest two gamer ended.
The home team is 7-2 in the past nine meetings with Edmonton going 2-5 in their last seven trips to Carolina while the over is 4-0 in the last four overall. I lean Canes but the price is probably too high for me but we'll see once goalies are confirmed...
