The Bruins look to extend their winning streak to nine games on Monday as they host the Minnesota Wild at the TD Garden.
The Wild head into Monday’s action sporting a 6-1-3 record in their last 10 contests and despite coming off an overtime loss they sit in seventh place in a ridiculously competitive Western Conference. While making the playoffs would be a positive step for Minny they would surely like to avoid finishing in the last two spots in the Conference to avoid playing Anaheim or St. Louis but when you really look at it all eight teams in the West are very good and each first round matchup will be exciting. The Wild are looked at as an underdog because of their uncertainties in goal and I for one expected the team to go out and land a more lucrative goaltender than Ilya Bryzgalov who I don’t think is the answer for Minnesota between the pipes. They have a chance to go into Boston and snap the Bruins’ eight game winning streak which extends past the Olympic break and currently has them locked into the top seed in the East.

The Bruins have been ridiculous to watch since the return of NHL action and the reigning Eastern Conference champions are playing like a team who was devastated in the Cup finals last year and are on a mission to make amends. The B’s have a really talented team across the board as Tuukka Rask will surely be a candidate for the Vezina, Zdeno Chara for the Norris, and a handful of forwards that contribute in their own way which makes them one of the best in the game. The other factor the Bruins have is the playoff experience which they are obviously stocked full of and with the way their heartbreaking run came to an end last year you can imagine the hunger this team has skating towards what looks like another lengthy playoff run. However, they are heavy favourites heading into this one against the Wild who will be just as rested as the home team and while the B’s have the clear advantage in goal I think they are relatively even otherwise and I think the Wild are well worth a look here at a very generous price.
