The Washington Capitals make the long trek west to face the Anaheim Ducks at the Honda Center.
Washington rode a three goal first period to a 4-2 victory over visiting Toronto on Sunday fo consecutive wins. Troy Bouwer was the offensive star with a pair of tallies while Jason Chimera and Joel Ward lit the lamp with Karl Alzner adding two helpers. The win went to Jaroslav Halak who posted 27 saves. The Maple Leafs received goals from Troy Bodie and Dion Phaneuf with James Reimer recording 29 stops in taking the loss for Toronto who has still won four of six. Overall the Capitals have dominated the Leafs at home with 13-4-1 run after Sunday.

After dropping four in a row and looking like trouble was on the horizon, Anaheim has won back to back contests after knocking off the Kings 2-1 on the road Saturday. Patrick Maroon and Tim Jackman found the back of the net for the Ducks with Frederik Andersen coming up big between the pipes with a 37 stop effort. The once red hot Kings have now dropped consecutive contests after winning eight in a row. Los Angeles received their lone tally in the middle frame off the stick Tyler Toffoli to erase a 1-0 deficit but the Ducks went back up less then a minute later. The defeat went to Martin Jones who posted 18 saves.
Once again the trends don't have meaning because these teams don't face each other often. I am not on the Ducks bandwagon and would urge caution here. If I make changes it will be by mid afternoon EST...
