The Oilers and Predators square off on Tuesday night as both teams wrap up the final stretch of their seasons as they will not be going to the playoffs.
Nashville has had a tough go this season and it is highly unlikely that they will be going to the postseason as they trail the Stars for the final spot by seven points. The Predators have had to deal with losing Pekka Rinne for most of the season as the Finnish national is surely one of the best goalies in the game and could have very well led the Preds to a playoff berth if he was healthy. Nashville isn’t too far off getting back to relevance and I think next season we could see them back in the playoffs if they can add a couple of pieces in the offseason. The Predators will be looking for a solid effort from Rinne in the crease on outwards as they play an Oilers team who has points in seven of their last 10.

Edmonton has struggled once again this season as their inexperience and overall lack of talent on the blue line has them once again in the Western Conference basement and if not for a ridiculously poor season from the Sabres they could have been the game’s worst once again. The Oilers offense is often described as their forte which it certainly is but without a good blue line the team will likely fail to live up to expectations. However, their goaltending situation has fans starting to believe things will turn around as the combination of Ben Scrivens and Viktor Fasth should provide some stability with the former likely taking over as the team’s full time starter. This is a tough game to call as both teams have been playing better of late and Edmonton can fuel off the home fans from time to time but they do struggle with elite goaltenders which is what they see here in Rinne. I’ll take the Predators
