The Vancouver Canucks play host to the Buffalo Sabres at the Rogers Arena in Sunday NHL action.
Buffalo put together strong performances at both ends of the ice in a rare 3-1 victory on the road at Edmonton. In the process a seven game slide came to an end and rookie netminder Matt Hackett won his Sabres debut with a 35 save performance. Cory Conacher was the offensive star with a pair of tallies and a helper with Drew Stafford taking all the mystery out of this with Buffalo's second goal of the final stanza. Ben Scrivens pushed aside 33 shots in defeat with Taylor Hall lighting the lamp in the opening frame.

Every game and every point is crucial for Vancouver who is fighting for their postseason lives. The Canucks picked up two points in a 2-0 decision over visiting Nashville on Wednesday to remain three points out of the final playoff berth. This was a defensive struggle from the opening faceoff with Eddie Lack coming out on top with his 30 stop effort that gave him shutout number four on the season. Nicklas Jensen and Alexander Edler provided third period tallies in support of Lack but Predators netminder Carter Hutton was on his lonesome with both goals given up on 22 shots as the visitors suffered loss number three in a row.
The home te team is 10-3-1 in the last 14 meetings with Buffalo going 1-4 in the past five trips to Vancouver. These trends don't mean much because these teams don't face one another often and the lineups have changed. I'm favoring the Canucks but the price is steep for me but I'm looking at goalies right now...
