The Montreal Canadiens return home after an uplifting victory against heir hated rivals from Boston last night and will look to avoid a letdown against the lowly Sabres.
The Sabres have come to terms with the fact that this season is a lost cause in the sense of making the playoffs but the complete firesale that took place does have some light at the end of the tunnel as they have plenty of prospects coming up and will get another with the top overall selection in the draft. Buffalo has a team full of minor players on their roster at the moment with the exception of a couple of guys but head into Montreal with a goaltender who has started just one game this season and they will expect him to go toe to toe with one of the best in Carey Price. Buffalo is comfortably in the league basement as they trail the next closest team in Edmonton by 11 points and it would be a travesty if they get snubbed by the lottery system for the top selection which at this point looks as though it will go to Sam Reinhart.

The Canadiens went into Boston last night and left with two huge points as they outlasted the Eastern Conference leaders by a 2-1 mark in the shootout. Montreal opted to start Petr Budaj last night for two reasons – at least speculatively – as Budaj has had great numbers and success against the Bruins and in a back to back situation they want to ensure a huge advantage against the Sabres by starting Price to solidify the prospects of securing two points. Either way the move looks like it is going to pain out well as Budaj got the win last night in spectacular fashion and now Price has a chance to reply against the worst team in the league on home ice. I don’t think there is too much more we can read into this situation except for the fact that The Habs will be riding high with emotion and can still afford a slip up here although it is highly unlikely. With Price between the pipes I expect the Canadiens will be able to score at least two more than they let in and that is what I’ll suggest you do here.
