The Carolina Hurricanes will be on the road when they visit the BB&T Center to face the Florida Panthers.
A dismal first period put Carolina in a hole they couldn't get out of in a 5-4 loss to the visiting Islanders on Wednesday. New York scored four times in the first eleven minutes before the Canes rallied only to fall short. Matt Martin and Colin McDonald paced the NYI attack with a pair of tallies each with Cal Clutterbuck also scoring while Anders Nilsson picked up the win with 24 stops to give the Isles consecutive wins for the first time since January. Andrei Loktionov, Jeff Skinner, Alexander Semin and Nathan Gerbe scored for the Canes with Cam Ward allowing three goals on nine shots before being replaced by Anton Khudobin.

Florida came back from a 2-0 second period deficit to knock off visiting Ottawa 3-2 in a shootout on Tuesday. Clarke MacArthur and Mark Stone gave the Senators a 2-0 lead in the middle stanza before the Panthers responded with goals from Vincent Trocheck and Sean Bergenheim. A scoreless third and overtime forced the shootout where Kyle Turris scored for Ottawa with Brandon Pirri and Trocheck scoring for Florida for the victory. Roberto Luongo posted 37 saves through regulation and OT while stopping two shots in the shootout while Robin Lehner posted 39 stops for the Panthers in the defeat.
Carolina is 1-4 in the last five trips to Florida but are 4-1 in the past five overall while the under is 3-1-1 in the last five in Florida. Looks like risky business betting on either but I'll give it a shot when goalies are announced...
