The Edmonton Oilers welcome the Anaheim Ducks to Rexall Place looking to slow their playoff drive.
Two weeks after getting smacked around by Calgary at the Saddledome by a surprising 7-2 count, Anaheim used some late scoring to escape with a 3-2 victory. The win brought the Ducks to within just two points of division leading San Jose in the Pacific. Nick Bornino gave the visitors a 1-0 lead in the opening frame that lasted until the second where Jiri Hudler and Brian McGrattan tallied to give the Flames a 2-1 lead. That was all she wrote for Calgary with Mathieu Perrault and Andrew Cogliano each lighting the lamp in the final frame although the Flames closed the final 18 seconds on the power play for a tense finish. Kari Ramo stopped 31 shots in the loss with Jonas Hiller winning it with 32 saves.

San Jose scored five consecutive times to hand Edmonton a 5-2 defeat at Rexall Place on Tuesday. The Oilers actually to a 1-0 lead on David Perron's first period marker just over four minutes but the Sharks took over from there. Joe Pavelski paced the offensive explosion with his third career hat trick including a power play tally. Marty Havlat and Patrick Marleau also found the back of net with Taylor Hall finishing off the scoring with a third period Oilers goal that turned out to be too little, too late. The victory went to Antti Niemi who recorded 28 stops while the loss went to Ben Scrivens who was touched for all five goals on 34 shots with three coming on Sharks power plays.
Anaheim is 13-3 in their last 16 visits to Edmonton while the under 7-0 in the last seven trips there and 6-1 in the last seven meeting overall. Anaheim looks like they have the edge but they are usually a big chalk play and not great in that role so I'll sort this out when lines and goalies are announced...
