The Philadelphia Flyers host the Toronto Maple Leafs in Friday night action at the Wells Fargo Center.
Toronto saw an opportunity to improve their playoff chances go by the wayside in a 5-3 loss to visiting St Louis on Tuesday. In the process the Blues took over the top spot in the league with 105 points while the Maple leafs remained in a four way tie with 80 points as the team scrambles for a final spot in the postseason. David Backes led the scoring charge with a hat trick with TJ Oshie and Alexander Steen also lighting the lamp to give Ryan Miller and his 22 stops the win. James van Riemsdyk, Joffrey Lupol and Carl Gunnarsson tallied for Toronto with Jonathan Bernier taking the loss with 44 saves.

Philadelphia fell behind early and never got their feet under them and the result was a 3-1 road loss to the Rangers. In the process New York moved three points ahead of their Metropolitan rivals in the battle for second. The Rangers scored in each period with Derek Dorsett, Dominic Moore and Ryan McDonagh doing the damage while Henrik Lundqvist recorded 30 saves to give the New Yorkers five consecutive victories. Jaub Voracek got the Flyers on the board with less then two minutes left in regulation with Steve Mason posting 26 saves as Philly's losing streak in New York reached eight games.
Toronto is 4-1 in the last five visits to Philadelphia while the road team is 5-2 in the past seven overall with the over going 5-1 in the last six. The Leafs seem to play well in Philly but have dropped six in a row so I need to think about this while waiting for goalies...
