The Blue Jackets head into Carolina looking to separate themselves in the playoff picture as they take on the Hurricanes in Raleigh.
The Columbus Blue Jackets are a team in the Eastern Conference that many people overlook when talking about playoff contenders and while they are still a season away from challenging the big dogs it looks as though they’ll get at least a shot at them this year. The Jackets have quietly pieced together a pretty solid season and find themselves in a logjam with a handful of other teams at the bottom of the Eastern Conference playoff picture and control their own destiny. Columbus does have a pretty decent roster that emphasizes offensive balance and while they may lack the superstar presence of other teams they have an arsenal of guys who can chip in led by youngster Ryan Johansen. Sergei Bobrvosky gets the call for the Jackets in goal as he takes on Anton Khudobin.

The Hurricanes have been a massive disappointing once again this season but if there is a silver lining it has been the play of former Bruins backup and odds on favourite to become the starter next season Anton Khudobin. The Justin Peters experiment didn’t work out in Raleigh and Cam Ward can’t stay healthy so management is going with Khudobin who has played very well under the circumstances and pending a complete overhaul in the offseason he should be the starter on opening night next year. The Canes don’t have much left to play for while the Jackets really need a win but to be honest I think the Canes match up well here and getting them at a nice price should give us something worth our buck. Khudobin is the difference maker for me here and I like Carolina at home.
