Minnesota Wild vs. Pittsburgh Penguins - 4/5/14: Randy's Free NHL Hockey Pick Against the Spread

The Minnesota Wild need a win when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Minnesota Wild will square off for the second and final time this regular season. The Penguins beat the Wild 5-2 back in mid-December.

The Penguins have the second seed in the Eastern Conference all wrapped up, but are looking to head into the playoff with some momentum. The Penguins have won three of their last four games. Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury continues to lead the Penguins in the right direction, as he’s allowed two or less goals in four of his last six starts. Offensively, Sidney Crosby continues to do what he does, as the Penguins star has racked up two goals, five assists and seven points in his last five games. The Penguins are 22-14-3-0 on the road this season.

The Wild are still searching for a playoff spot in the Western Conference and can secure their position with a couple more wins. The Wild have split their last six games, but did pick up a point in a Thursday shootout loss to the Chicago Blackhawks. Goalie IIya Bryzgalov has allowed no more than two goals in his last four starts and Mikko Koivu has one goal and five assists in his last five games. The Wild have scored three or more goals in five of their last nine games, which is an improvement for one of the worst offenses in the NHL. The Minnesota Wild are 23-9-1-4 at home.

The Penguins are 4-1 in their last 5 vs. Central and 56-24 in their last 80 games playing on 1 days rest. The Wild are 1-5 in their last 6 home games and 11-4 in their last 15 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. The Penguins are 3-8-1 in the last 12 meetings, while the road team is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings.

Minnesota is the most desprate team in this matchup and those are usually the teams that win this time of year. Take the Wild at home at the cheap price.
