When a team that is is fighting to secure a berth in the postseason comes up flat it sometimes leaves you scratching your head. We saw that Thursday from Dallas who was not even competitive in a 4-1 loss at Carolina that ended a three game winning streak. Neither end of the ice was strong with Kari Lehtonen allowing three goals in the second before having a seat on the bench with Tim Thomas giving up a goal on 16 shots. Tyler Seguin had the lone Stars score in the middle stanza but Eric Staal, Justin Faulk and John-Michael Liles gave the home team a 3-1 lead heading in to the third. Riley Nash added goal number four with Anton Khudobin posting 33 stops.

Tampa Bay is another team battling for playoff positioning so their 4-1 home loss to Calgary was surprising given how dominant the Flames were.
