The Line: Minnesota Wild +119 / St. Louis Blues -131 --- Over/Under: 5 See the Latest Odds

The Blues look to inch closer to wrapping up the Western Conference as they head into Minnesota to take on the red hot Wild.

The St. Louis Blues are in the midst of a tight race atop the league standings and not only are they in the running for the game’s top mark but they can clinch home ice advantage throughout the Western Conference playoffs if they run the table. The Blues have been a tough team since the puck dropped in October and with the talent level being what it is on their roster and the presence of Ryan Miller in the crease it is hard to find a more dangerous team than the Blues. St. Louis is deep across the board and have a ton of guys who contribute offensively and while their blue line is young it is one of the best in the game, giving Miller a sense of fearlessness. The Blues have dropped three games in a row so you know they’d love to respond here and with this being a potential first round matchup they can make a statement to the West and the Wild that they’re going for glory this season.

Minnesota Wild vs. St. Louis Blues - 4/10/14

The Wild have to be one of the best seventh seeds in league history as they have a roster that can win the Stanley Cup but with the talent level being at an all time high in the West and the majority of the game’s top teams competing with each other it is tough to put them higher. Minnesota has won three straight contests which has all but sealed their participation in the playoffs but their first round opponent is still to be determined as they’ll take on the lesser of the Blues and Ducks, whomever fails to lock up the top seed. Either way the Wild know they’re in for a tough opening round series and that they’ll have to be at the top of their game if they’re to advance and a large part of that will be the play of Ilya Bryzgalov between the pipes. This is a tight game as I think both teams need a win here as a confidence booster heading into the playoffs and while I hate passing up on the Wild as a home dog I think St. Louis ends their losing ways and skate away with a win here.
