The Los Angeles Kings look to extend their series to seven games when the San Jose Sharks Monday.
Los Angeles staved off elimination for the second time with a 3-0 decision at San Jose in game five to close the Sharks series lead to 3-2. The Kings have suddenly come to life after once trailing 3-0 in the series but now have the momentum and the home ice in game six and a real opportunity to actually advance. Not too shabby for a team that dropped three straight by a combined 17-8 but have turned the tables in consecutive victories by a 9-3 count.

The LAK recipe' for success was some early scoring and airtight defense with Mike Quick anchoring things between the pipes. Tyler Toffoli and and Anze Kopitar scored in the first within four minutes of each other while Jeff Carter lit the lamp less then a minute in to the second before turning the show over to Quick who brushed aside 30 shots to secure his 8th postseason shutout. Antti Niemi gave up three goals on 19 shots before getting the hook for the second straight contest. Alex Stalock came on to record 22 stops but the damage had already been done.
The Kings had wrapped up a postseason berth a week or so before the end of the regular season and did not play well to end the year and that seemed to carry over in to the first three games where the Sharks offense did what they wanted. I believe Los Angeles can win this series if they control the scoreboard which I think happens Monday so I lean Kings while waiting for a line so please check back...
