The Kings and Ducks hook up at the Honda Center on Monday after the visitors took the series opener in dramatic fashion on Saturday night.
The Los Angeles Kings head into Anaheim on Monday looking to extend their current playoff winning streak to six games after the stole the series opener against the Ducks on Saturday after looking as though they were going to have their winning ways snapped. The Kings rallied late in the third period as Marian Gaborik scored with seven seconds remaining to tie the game and replied again in overtime to give the Kings the victory in what was one of the most exciting playoff contests we have had so far this year. The Kings are a very good team as we have seen over the last week or so and now have a very real chance at sending this series back to LA with a 2-0 advantage but if they’re going to do so they’ll have to play a very sound game against a desperate Anaheim team. The Kings have the edge in most areas of the game but Anaheim is very good at home and had their way with the Kings against Jonathan Quick in the regular season and that is why they are favourites once again in this spot on home ice.

The Ducks had the victory in the bag but it was snatched away from them by Marian Gaborik and now instead of sweeping the home stand like they’re expected to the Ducks have to win just to pull even and head to the road for a shot at reclaiming home ice. Anaheim is a very good team also as indicated by their top seed in the Western Conference and they are unquestionably led up front by Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry but if they’re going to defeat LA they’ll need their secondary scoring to maintain its pace. Anaheim has some great role players in the form of Nick Bonino, Teemu Selanne, and Devante Smith-Pelley whose timely goals of late are making him a candidate for breakthrough effort of the postseason. Jonas Hiller played very well in the Anaheim crease and while I still give the edge to Quick and the Kings in that regard I think he has the ability to steal a game or two here and while I am supporting LA in this series I like the Ducks to come out and play very well here and notch the victory at home.
