The Anaheim Ducks hot the Los Angeles Kings in game five at the Honda Center on Monday night.
Anaheim evened their series with Los Angeles on the strength of a 2-0 decision at the Staples Center on Saturday. The home ice advantage has proven to be non existent with each team winning away from home. This series has been close and hard fought with game four looking like a big scoring affair after the Ducks took a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes but both teams muscled up defensively the rest of the way.

Anaheim scored with just under minutes remained in period one when Devante Smith-Pelly's backhander off a feed from Corey Perry lit the lamp. Ryan Getzlaf poked home a rebound with only 1:15 left in the opening frame and scoreboard operator had the remainder of the night off. John Gibson received the surprise start between the pipes and brushed aside 28 shots in his postseason debut. Gibson had three starts under his belt in the regular seaso where he went 3-0 with a 1.33 GAA.
Los Angeles started Jonathan Quick in the nets but surprisingly replaced him to start the second with Martin Jones. Even more surprising was the high powered attack of the Ducks were held without a shot in the second and a mere 12 shots overall. This series has become a defensive battle and the Kings are struggling to score. I sense a momentum shift favoring Anaheim and in fact this series could very well be 3-1 for the Ducks. I don't know who will be in goal for either team so please check back...
