The Los Angeles Kings look to advance to the Stanley Cup with a win over the Chicago Blackhawks in game five.
Los Angeles is on the brink of the Stanley Cup Finals after defeating the Blackhawks 5-2 at the Staples Center on Monday. The Kings lead the series 3-1 as it heads back to the United Center where Chicago has been nearly unbeatable. No secret to what happened here as the LAK scored early and often and never gave the Blackhawks a chance to breath.

Los Angeles jumped to a 3-0 lead in the opening frame thanks to goals from Marian Gaborik, Jake Muzzin and Dustin Brown. The lead reached four on Drew Doughty tallied in the second and the Fat Lady began to warm up. However the Blackhawks applied plenty of pressure late in the period and finally solved Jonathan Quick on Brandon Saad's tip in to cut the margin to 4-1 heading in to the final 20 minutes.
Bryan Bickell brought the visitors within two with a backhander at the 9:30 mark but Chicago could get no closer. Tanner Pearson added an empty netter with just over a minute to play to end any hope of a miracle finish by Chicago. Corey Crawford absorbed the loss with allowed four goals on 20 shots while Quick brushed aside 22 shots to pick up the win.
The Kings defense was very strong in game four but the story of the game and in these playoffs has been the LAK's ability to put the rubber in the back of the net. Los Angeles has been averaging well over three goals per game but if you are a Blackhawks fan there is hope as the Kings have lost three in a row in each of their first two series. Having said that this team looks even better then the one we saw against San Jose and Anaheim. No line out but I will be giving the Kings a long look in game five but please check back a few hours before game time for a pick...
