The Line: Los Angeles Kings / Chicago Blackhawks --- Over/Under: 5 See the Latest Odds
The Chicago Blackhawks hope to force a game seven when they take the ice at the Staples Center against the Los Angeles Kings.
The Blackhawks survived the Kings 5-4 in double overtime Wednesday in game five at the United Center to cut their series deficit to 3-2. The good news was the Hawks staved off elimination but must win again in game six at the Staples Center on Friday to stay alive once again. This one will be remembered for it's back and forth action that one would normally favor the Blackhawks but the Kings offense has been clicking and they rallied from a pair of two goal deficits to push Chicago to the limit.

Surprisingly both offenses were held in check in the third period and first overtime aftar combining for seven goals in the first 40 minutes. Michal Handzus finally ended it when his backhander found the top of the net at the 2:04 mark of the second OT. Chicago received a goal and a pair of helpers from Brandon Saad while Johnny Oduya, Brent Seabrook and Ben Smith also found the back of the net with Patrick Kane notching four helpers.
The Kings got their scoring from Marian Gaborik, Dustin Brown, Jarret Stoll and Tanner Pearson as they eraced 2-0 and 3-1 deficits before taking a 4-3 lead with them in to the final 20 minutes. Jonathan Quick surrendered five goals on 45 shots in defeat while Corey Crawford picked up the victory with 40 saves to set the stage for another elimination game in Los Angeles. At this point I don't know if there are any real keys to winning this series that aren't obvious. I think the way the Kings are scoring makes them a big threat in game six while the over also looks inviting. Please check back Friday for a pick as I dig deeper in to this in the meantime...
