TV:

The Kings look to sweep the first two games on home ice with another win on Saturday while the Rangers look to steal home ice advantage heading back to MSG.

The Rangers had ample opportunity to skate away with the series lead on Wednesday night as they raced out to a 2-0 lead but they couldn’t contain a much bigger Kings team that demonstrated their resolve once again as they fought back for a 3-2 final. New York as they have all season long relied heavily on Henrik Lundqvist and while the Swedish national and Conn Smythe contender was brilliant in the series opener it wasn’t enough as the team in front of him couldn’t muster any killer instinct. The Blue Shirts did manage to send the game to overtime and were a shot away from their criticisms being obsolete but they are exacerbated instead as a crucial turnover from the usually sure-handed Ryan McDonagh led to the game winner from Justin Williams who continues to be nothing but clutch for the Kings. New York would love to salvage a split heading back home and as one of the league’s best road teams this year they have a great chance at doing so but they say you can’t panic until you lose at home so even if they come out flat again here they can still claw back.

Los Angeles Kings vs. New York Rangers - 6/7/14

USA TODAY Sports

The Kings got away with one on Wednesday night and while they didn’t play poorly they certainly didn’t have their best game and that was to be expected after such an emotional victory two days prior against the defending Cup champs. Nonetheless, the Kings got the victory in the series opener and to think they can play below average and still get the win would have to make them a pretty heavy favourite moving forward as indicated by the line here in game two. New York is a very good team and certainly earned their way into the Cup finals but to be honest I think they pale in comparison to the competition the Kings have faced thus far as aside from themselves I think they ousted the three best teams in the league en route to their Cup berth. I have the Kings winning this series in five contests as I think they will drop one in New York before bouncing back and clinching the Cup at home and as such I think they get the win here and this time I think they do it in 60 minutes.
