The Los Angeles Kings host the New York Rangers in game two of the Stanley Cup finals on Saturday.
The Kings upended the Rangers 3-2 in overtime to capture game one of the Stanley Cup finals. Once again Los Angeles played on the edge with New York taking a 2-0 lead in the first but as we have seen from this team time and time again, they don't get rattled and respond to adversity better then any team in the postseason.

Justin Williams once again came up clutch on the big stage with his overtime tally with 4:36 gone in the extra session. Kyle Clifford scored in the first with Drew Doughty netting the equalizer in the second with Jonathan Quick turning in a quality effort with 25 stops. The Rangers opened up a 2-0 lead on markers off the sticks of Carl Hagelin and Benoit Pouliot but that was it. That put the focus on the goaltending of Henrik Lundqvist who put his team on his shoulders despite the defeat. Lundqvist was blistered with 43 shots and carried New York to overtime with an impressive 20 stops in the final 20 minutes.
This was the first series where the Rangers didn't win the opening game and this one was right there for the steal. Having said that, having your goalie face 40+ shots is not a recipe' for success with the LAK attack continuing to excel against the defensive minded visitors. The bottom line is Los Angeles played their game better then New York played theirs. Moving on to game two the Kings don't need to change a thing but if the Rangers allow Lundqvist to get peppered with rubber again I don't see a positive outcome. No line out but I'll have a pick well before gametime...
