TV:

The early part of this week has been pretty busy when it comes to NHL signings and transactions. We’ll likely be seeing another set of moves today, so with that in mind let’s take our daily look at the headlines and see what’s happening out there right now.

D’Amigo Deal: The Blue Jackets inked RW Jerry D’Amigo to a one-year, two-way deal yesterday. He came to Columbus a few weeks back in a trade with Toronto.
D’Amigo played in 22 games for the Leafs last year, posting a goal and two helpers.

Frolik Deal: The Jets signed RW Michael Frolik to a one-year deal yesterday. There had been some speculation that he’d be signing long-term, but that apparently didn’t pan out. He managed 15 scores and 27 helpers last season in Winnipeg.

Hayes Deal: The Panthers were active yesterday, signing RW Jimmy Hayes to a one-year deal. He played in 53 games with Florida during 2013-14 and came up with 11 goals and seven helpers.

Staal Surgery: The Hurricanes’ Eric Staal recently underwent surgery for his hernia, and everything went well as expected. He should have no problem recovering in time for the ‘Canes’ training camp in September.
Staal is coming off a 21-goal, 61-point campaign in 2013-14, and will need to step it up a little bit this season if he’s going to meet his lofty statistical expectations.

Fontaine Deal: RW Justin Fontaine agreed to terms with the Wild yesterday, and he’ll be back with the team on a two-year contract.
Fontaine’s rookie season brought 66 games for him, and he finished up with 13 scores and eight helpers to his credit. We should see him out on the ice more often this year.

NHL Daily Schedule: The league action will be picking back up again on Wednesday, October 8. Let’s check out the schedule for that evening and see what we can expect on opening night.
