The Minnesota Wild travel to the Pepsi Center to battle the Colorado Avalanche for the second time to kick off the season.
The Minnesota Wild and the Colorado Avalanche begin 2014 with a home and home series. Minnesota defended their home ice with a one sided 5-0 victory over the visiting Avs on Thursday night with the Avalanche hoping to return the favor on Saturday.

Colorado never got their offense going and the lack of defense was even more of an issue as to much rubber got to the net and even more found the back of the net. Semyon Varlamov allowed all five tallies on 38 shots to absorb the loss while Reto Berra stopped another ten shots in the third when Varlamov got the hook.
Zach Parise paced the Minnesota offense with a goal and a pair of helpers while Jason Pominville, Nino Niederreiter, Ryan Sutter and Jared Spurgeon each lit the lamp while Darcy Kuemper brushed aside a mere 15 Colorado shots for his third career shutout. Minnesota has won five of the last six while the home team has gone 8-1 in the last nine with the over hitting in five straight. I would think the Avalanche bounce back here but I want to see who is in goal for this team so please check back Saturday afternoon...
