The Nashville Predators and Winnipeg Jets will play Friday night at the MTS Centre.
This will be the first road game of the season for the Nashville Predators, as they begin a short two-game road trip. The Predators are being carried by goalie Pekka Rinne, who has allowed five goals on 66 shot attempts. Rinne has now allowed two or less goals in six of his last seven games and it’s given the Predators a chance to win each and every night. Offensively, Eric Nystrom and Shea Weber have combined for four goals, while Paul Gaustad has three assists and Craig Smith has 10 shots on goal. The one thing the Nashville Predators need to improve on is their power play advantage, as they’re just 1-8 with an extra man on the ice in their first three games. Still, overall the Predators have to be pleased with their start to the season and can only hope the momentum carries over to the road.

This will be the Winnipeg Jets first home game and they can only hope their offense improves after back-to-back losses. The Jets have scored just one goal in their last two games and are a combined 0-9 on the power play. Bryan Little leads the Winnipeg Jets with three goals, Tobias Enstrom has three assists and Dustin Byfuglien has 14 shots on goal. Besides those three guys, Winnipeg has received very little to no contributions on the offensive end from anybody. The lack of offense has put Winnipeg’s goalies in tough spots, as Michael Hutchinson has allowed three goals on 13 save attempts and Ondrej Pavelec has given up six goals on 72 shots faced. It’s no secret what the Winnipeg Jets have to do in order to start winning some games.
The Predators are 4-1 in their last 5 vs. a team with a losing record and 5-2 in their last 7 road games. The Jets are 9-4 in their last 13 games playing on 3 or more days rest and 3-8 in their last 11 home games. The Predators are 5-2 in the last 7 meetings.
Not sure how anybody can pick the Jets in this spot with the lack of offense they've shown in the first three games. I'll gladly take the Predators and the plus money.
