The Gila River Arena and the Arizona Coyotes look for their third win when the St Louis Blues pay a visit Saturday.
Defense and goaltending were the name of the game when the Los Angeles Kings outlasted the St Louis Blues by a 1-0 count at home on Thursday night. Jeff Carter opened the shootout with a wrist shot that beat Brian Elliott with the only goal. This game was all about Jonathan Quick who stopped 46 shots including three in overtime before stoning Alex Steen, TJ Oshie and Vladimir Tarasenko in the best performance in goal in the NHL thus far on the season. In the process Quick earned his 32nd career shutout as the Kings extended their home dominance over St Louis to five straight and nine of eleven overall. The Blues did not look as feeble at the offensive end as the final score might lead us to believe with a 43 shot performance in regulation as they simply ran in to a hot goaltender. Brian Elliott was stellar between the pipe for St Louis with 18 stops.

The Arizona Coyotes defeated the Edmonton Oilers 7-4 at the Gila River Arena on Wednesday night to improve to 2-1 on the season. Once the Coyotes started scoring they didn't stop with a pair of goals in the first and second that was topped off with three more tallies in the third. Mikkel Boedker paced the offensive outburst with his first career hat trick while Connor Murphy, Rob Klinkhammer, Martin Erat and Kyle Chipchura each joined the scoring parade versus an Edmonton club that has 23 goals in four games to kick off the season. Mike Smith turned away 23 shots to pick up the victory. Taylor Hall was a bright spot for the Oilers as he lit the lamp twice and added an assist with Mark Fayne and Mark Arcobella also finding the scoring column. Ben Scrivens absorbed the loss with six goals allowed on 28 shots.
St Louis is 0-7 in their last seven road contests and 0-6 in their last six road games versus a team with a home winning % greater then .600 while the over has gone 2-0-2 int heir past four games when playing on one day of rest. The Coyotes are 0-5 in their last five games after scoring five or more goals in their previous game while the total has gone 3-0-1 to the under in the last four contests after scoring five or more goals in the previous game with the under going 4-0 in the Coyotes last four when playing on two days rest. Head to head the Blues are 4-0 in the past four trips to Arizona with St Louis going 5-1 in the last six meetings with the under going 4-1 in the last five match ups. The trends seem to favor the Blues along with the under which goes with St Louis being a strong defensive squad. No line out because there is no goalie confirmation so pleas check back by the afternoon on Saturday when everything is firmed up...
