Ottawa Senators vs. Columbus Blue Jackets - 10/18/14

The Blue Jackets will look to make it two wins in as many nights against Canadian opponents after dropping the Flames by a 3-2 mark in Columbus last night but this time they head to the road to take on an Ottawa team that is very tough to beat at home. The Blue Jackets have been pegged by many to be the dark horse pick in the Eastern Conference this season after making the playoffs a year ago and through their first four games they sit 3-1 and have lived up to the billing as a team on the rise. The Jackets do have some fire power but a lot of their success will come from the crease out as Sergei Bobrovsky is a year removed from winning the Vezina and has the potential to get back to that form which could propel the Jackets to a division title this season, something that would be unprecedented for hockey fans in Ohio.

The Senators will look to notch their second win in as many tries at the Canadian Tire Centre on Saturday night and keep pace with the Montreal Canadiens in the process as the team's currently sit 1-2 in the Atlantic division. Ottawa was projected to finish outside of the Eastern Conference playoffs in the preseason as they have undergone yet another face lift in terms of players on the ice as long time forward Jason Spezza was sent to the Dallas Stars but so far the “Pesky Sens” have been just that and are a very tough team to play against. Ottawa always seem to get up for games at home and while some teams fold against lesser competition the Senators seem to keep an even keel despite these teams playing at relatively the same level. I favour the home side here though as the Jackets are playing the back end of a double header and we could see Curtis McIlhenny going for the Jackets which would be a tough matchup against Robin Lehner.
