The Dallas Stars take to the road in search of a win at the Prudential Center versus the New Jersey Devils.
The Dallas Stars lit the lamp early and often in waffling the visiting Canucks 6-3 on Tuesday night. The Stars three goals in the first and three more in the second to take a 6-2 before going in to cruise control over the final 20 minutes with things well in hand. Erik Cole paced the scoring explosion with a pair of goals with Cody Eakin, Tyler Seguin, Ryan Garbutt and Jamie Benn all joining the scoring parade with the latter three posting assists. Kari Lehtonen recorded 43 stops to pick up the win. Vancouver received goals from Zack Kassian, Radim Vrbata and Jannik Hansen with the defeat going to Ryan Miller who was tagged for five goals on just 13 shots before getting the hook in favor of Eddie Lack who gave up a goal on 15 shots.

The New York Rangers came back from a late deficit to knock off New Jersey 4-3 in overtime on the road Tuesday. The Devils appeared to be in firm control when Jon Merrill beat Henrik Lundqvist only 35 seeconds in to th third period before the night went downhill from there for the Devils. Chris Mueller and Rick Nash scored in the third with Chris Kreider lighting the lamp in the opening frame. The winner came off the stick of Kevin Klein who took a feed from Kreider and beat Cory Schneider with just 2:18 left in the extra session to complete the rally. Adam Henrique and Jaromir Jagr also scored and delivered assists for New Jersey who were 3-5 with the man advantage while New York went 2-3 on the power play to snap an 0-17 mark with the man advantage. Lundqvist recorded 28 stops in the win with Schneider stpping 21.
The Stars are 5-1 in their last 6 games playing on 2 days rest and 2-6 in their last 8 games following a win while going 2-6 in their last 8 road games. For New Jersey the over is 2-0-2 in Devils last 4 home games with the Devils going 1-5 in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of greater than .600 while the over is 5-1-2 in Devils last 8 overall. Head to head the Stars are 1-7 in the last 8 meetings in New Jersey with Dallas going 1-4 in the last 5 meetings and the home team is 11-3 in the last 14 meetings. I don't put all my faith in trends so early in the season but they indicate Dallas has has some trouble on the Devils ice. No goalies or line out so please check back Friday afternoon when I have a final selection...
