The Line: Arizona Coyotes / Florida Panthers --- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Florida Panthers will be a long way from home when they visit the Arizona Coyotes at the Gila River Arena.
The Florida Panthers weren't given much of a chance against Colorado even though the Avalanche have been struggling. They didn't get that memo as they kept the Avs reeling in a 4-3, overtime victory for their second win of the year. Brad Boyes netted the winner on the power play in the extra session and also added a helper to pace the offense. Joining the scoring spree were Aleksander Barkov, Sean Bergenheim and Brandon Pirri while Roberto Luongo picked up the victory with a 30 save performance. The Avalanche did all their scoring in the second period with Alex Tanguay, Tyson Barrie and Gabriel Landeskog each finding the back of the net followed by a scoreless third period. Reto Berra took the loss with 32 stops as the Avs dropped their 4th in a row.

The Arizona Coyotes found out the hard way that regardless of how well you play defense yo still need to deposit the puck in the back of the net. Unfortunately that didn't happen and an outstanding effort from their goaltending and defense wasn't enough in a 2-0 defeat at Minnesota. In their defense the Coyotes ran in to red hot Darcy Kuemper who has recored shutouts in three of four. Kuemper stopped 26 shots to get the win and has stopped 96-98 shots during his hot streak. The Wild received goals from Charlie Coyle and Jason Pominville in the second period and Kuemper took care or the rest. Mike Smith had the misfortune of facing a hot goalie and his 27 saves was not enough to prevent a three game skid. The Coyotes had been accustomed to playing well at Minnesota but saw their record drop to 6-1-2 after the loss.
The under is 5-1 in Panthers last 6 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game while going 4-1 in Panthers last 5 games following a win and is 4-1 in Panthers last 5 vs. Pacific. For Arizona the under is 5-0-2 in Coyotes last 7 games playing on 1 days rest with the over going 3-0-1 in Coyotes last 4 home games. The Coyotes are 2-10 in their last 12 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game. Head to head the under is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings with the Panthers going 1-5 in the last 6 meetings while the road team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings. There are a lot of under trends for both teams and some numbers side with Florida and some with Arizona although I would have to say Florida hasn't played badly. I'll try to figure this out when I see goalies so check back in the afternoon Saturday...
