The Line: St. Louis Blues / Chicago Blackhawks --- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Scottrade Arena and the St Lous Blues welcome the Chicago Blackhawks to town for some Saturday night hockey.
The Chicago Blackhawks offense stalled against Nashville 3-2 on Thursday night to pick up their lone defeat of the season to drop to 4-1-1 while the red hot Predators remained undefeated at 5-0-2. The Blackhawks could not contain James Neal who totaled his 5th career hat trick and first for Nashville since coming over from the Penguins in the off season. The Blackhawks received goals from Ben Smith and Andrew Shaw but that wasn't enough to prevent Chicago's first regulation defeat in six contests. Neal scored in each period with his last coming with only 1:52 remained in regulation. Corey Crawford remained sidelined with an upper body injury so Antti Raanta was in the net and absorbed the defeat with 24 saves not being enough. The Predators received 30 saves from Pekka Rinne in picking up the victory.

The St Louis Blues were one of the top clubs in the league a season ago but they are off toa slow start thus far. The Blues did not look good on either ens of the ice with a struggling offense and defense that combined to saddle the team with a 4-1 defeat at the hands of visiting Vancouver and former netminder Ryan Miller who was with St Louis the second the Blues in the second of last year. Miller was outstanding against his fomer club with 31 stops including 15 over the final 30 minutes alone. Miller received plenty of support with Nick Bonino, Linden Vey, Chris Higgins and Jannik Hansen each lighting the lamp to help avoid a three game slide. Ken Shatterfield scored in the second for a 1-1 tie heading to the third period before the Canucks ended it with a three goal explosion. Jake Allen allowed three goals on 22 shots in defeat.
The under is 4-0 in Blackhawks last 4 vs. Western Conference and is 5-0 in Blackhawks last 5 vs. Central while going 4-0 in Blackhawks last 4 overall. For St Louis the under is 7-0-1 in Blues last 8 vs. a team with a winning % above .600 with the over going 2-0-4 in Blues last 6 home games. The Blues are 0-6 in their last 6 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game. Head to head the Blackhawks are 4-0 in the last 4 meetings with the over going 3-0-1 in the last 4 meetings in St. Louis and 5-1-1 in the last 7 meetings. The trends favor the Blackhawks and the over and I tend to agree because the Blues have been slow out of the gate and Chicago is playing well. I'll be able to dig in to this more once I see who is in the nets...
