The Colorado Avalanche and Winnipeg Jets play Sunday at the MTS Centre.
The Colorado Avalanche have gotten off to a tough 2-4-2 start to the season and are just trying to find their mojo on both sides of the ice. A lot of the struggles start on the defensive side, as the Avalanche have allowed three or more goals in five straight games. Reto Berra has allowed five goals on 74 shots, Semyon Varlamov has allowed 13 goals on 140 shots and Calvin Pickard has allowed seven goals on 63 shots. The positive is that the Colorado Avalanche are killing 87.1 percent of their penalties, but they’ve lost nine of their last 10 games when allowing three or more goals. Offensively, the Avalanche are averaging just 2.4 goals per game. Matt Duchene, Alex Tanguay and Gabriel Landeskog all have three goals, Tyson Barrie has five assists and Ryan O'Reilly has 23 shots on goal.

The Winnipeg Jets are also off to a tough 2-5 start and are looking for just their second home win. While the Jets offense is struggling, their defense is allowing just 2.9 goals per game and is killing 90 percent of their power plays. Ondrej Pavelec has allowed 17 goals on 168 shots and Michael Hutchinson has given up three goals on 22 shots. The Winnipeg Jets have allowed just three power play goals all season and they’ve won seven of their last 10 games when allowing three or less goals. Offense is where Winnipeg has struggled, as it’s averaging just 1.9 goals per game. Bryan Little leads the way with four goals, Tobias Enstrom has six assists and Dustin Byfuglien has 26 shots on goal. This will be the last home game for the Winnipeg Jets before they go on a four-game road trip.
The Avalanche are 21-6 in their last 27 vs. a team with a losing record and 1-9 in their last 10 road games. The Jets are 2-6 in their last 8 home games and 2-7 in their last 9 games playing on 1 days rest.
The Colorado Avalanche haven't been playing well, but they usually feast on the bottom feeding teams in the league. I like Colorado to get back on track here and get the road win for the cheap price.
