The Blues will look for their fifth straight victory with a win in New York on Monday night as they head in to take on a Rangers team that is floating along the .500 mark and will be itching for a win of their own with Cam Talbot between the pipes. The Blues have endured some early season injury woes but that hasn't slowed them down at all as they have still managed to put up four wins in a row despite being without TJ Oshie, Paul Stastny, and David Backes. St. Louis is definitely in the conversation as a league power house and should be considered among a handful of teams that are favoured to win the Stanley Cup despite moving on from the Ryan Miller saga and going with a relatively inexperienced tandem of Jake Allen and Brian Elliott with the latter getting the nod to start in this one.
The Rangers have been up and down to start the season and can't seem to find any consistency in their game through the first 10 outings and are always a tough team to sort out when handicapping. They are the defending Eastern Conference champions but haven't looked the part so far this season and while they did lose some key pieces to last year's team they should still be in contention for the playoffs and could very well make a push once again. Henrik Lundqvist is certainly still cemented in as the team's starter but Cam Talbot has looked good in relief over the last few years and if he can steal a few for the Rangers again this season they should very well end up in the playoffs and give themselves a chance to defend their title. However, I don't think they match up well with the Blues at all and if St. Louis can find ways to win without their stars imagine what they can do when they're in the lineup. Take St. Louis at a really generous price.
