Buffalo Sabres vs. Montreal Canadiens - 11/5/14 NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Montreal was dealt their worst loss of the season last night in front of a jam packed Bell Centre as the Chicago Blackhawks came in and laid a beating on the Habs to the tune of a 5-0 final that left Carey Price looking for answers. The Canadiens were one of the best teams in the league to start the year as they raced out to a 7-1 start but haven't looked the part since slipping to an 8-4-1 mark and have dropped back to back games. The Habs have a great shot at turning things around though as they head into Buffalo to take on the lowly Sabres on Wednesday night and while they're coming off a win in their last contest they sit at 3-9-1 on the year and are going to be praying for ping pong balls come July. Dustin Tokarski will likely get the call in goal for the Canadiens as he will go up against Michal Neuvirth.

The Sabres will look for just their second win on home ice all season on Wednesday night but they'll have their work cut out for them as the Canadiens are bound to be in a sour mood and will be looking for blood. As mentioned, the Habs were shellacked last night by the Blackhawks on home ice no less leaving the sour taste that they aren't quite ready to compete with the big dogs of the NHL and with a divisional show down here you can expect even more so that Montreal would like to respond. The Sabres are still a bit of a mess despite cutting off a lot of loose ends at the end of last season but they have a bright future and a stable ownership group that is keen to build the franchise in Buffalo. However, that doesn't mean they will generate immediate success on the ice and I think this is a brutal spot for them and I like Montreal to bounce back and show that they can respond from adversity and they win this one in 60 minutes.
